Packing for college

The fall semester is just around the corner. That means it is time for young adults to pack up and move from their childhood home to college. This can be a big transition, and packing takes more time than you would think. There are boxes to be packed, things to be thrown away, items to be placed in your Storage in Lafayette CO unit. Going through a bedroom is a great way to bond with your kid right before they leave for college. You can spend quality time together while reminiscing about their childhood.

The first thing you should do is make a list of what they want/need to take to college. This will vary depending on the type of housing your student is staying in. Most students will need sheets, 2 pillow cases, towels, a comforter, a blanket, pillows, clothes hangers, etc… Pack all essential items first. Moving space will most likely be limited to the amount of room in the student’s car. Use sturdy boxes and containers to pack.

Once you know how much extra room your student has to bring extras they can decide what else to bring. Items like lamps, extra office supplies, decorations, work out equipment, games, and other fun items. These extras should be small enough to fit in a car and should not take up a large amount of space. Larger items may not fit in an already crowded dorm.

Bringing a bike, rollerblades, ripstik, skate board, or other mode of transportation is a great idea. You can save money and get some exercise while getting to class. This is especially useful if your student is not able to take a car to college. Being outside and riding around is also a great opportunity to meet new people.
