How to Get Your Car Ready For the Winter

Are you getting ready to store your car for the winter months? If so there are a few things that you need to do before you can put your car into storage. Storing your car should be fairly simple. If you are trying to squeeze in those last few rides before the snow comes just make sure you give yourself a little bit of time so you can prepare for storage.

  1. The very first thing you should do with your car is thoroughly wash it. Vacuum and wipe down the inside do everything you can to make the interior spotless. Then move to the outside. Make sure that there are no bugs or bird droppings on your car. These things can cause damage to the paint if not taken care of. Also do not forget to clean your wheels every part of your car should be clean.

  1. Fill your car up and add fuel stabilizer. What is fuel stabilizer? Fuel stabilizer will keep the gas from going bad. You should also top off any other fluids in your car. This will keep your car from having condensation form inside those tanks.

  1. Get an oil change right before storage. Even if you are not due for an oil change it is a good idea to get one. Most mechanics will suggest you do this. This will just keep your car fresh and ready for spring.

  1. Give your tires a little more air than usual. Right before storage, fill your tires up with a little extra air. When it gets cold air tends to escape so by adding a little extra you can have the right amount of air when spring comes.
