Fun Activities To Keep Busy During COVID-19
If you’re like me, there are only so many puzzles and books I can do and read over again before I start to get bored. And there aren’t too many things to do indoors during a world-wide pandemic when we’ve been ordered to stay at home. If you’re running out of options of things to do, I have decided to share a list that I’ve been compiling to help pass the time. These are things that you can do either alone or with family.
Educational
Just because we’re stuck inside doesn’t mean we can’t be learning and expanding our mind. Many public libraries are closed but are still offering their books, articles, and even music and movies to check out online.
PBS and PBS teaching materials is a great resource for ideas on educating children during their time away from school. Best part is it’s free to use. https://utah.pbslearningmedia.org/
Several prestigious universities are offering some of their most popular classes online for free. Harvard is offering free coding classes. You can learn game development (a 12 week long course for free), mobile app development (a 13 week long course for free), introduction to computer science (an 11 week long course for free) and many others. Just check out this link if any of these are something you’re interested in: https://online-learning.harvard.edu/subject/programming
Entertainment
Travel is limited right now but you can take virtual tours of several parks and famous museums. You can take a virtual tour of the Louvre without ever stepping foot outside. Click this link if you want to give it a try: https://www.louvre.fr/en/visites-en-ligne
This website will let you virtually tour 12 famous museums right from the comfort of your couch: https://www.travelandleisure.com/attractions/museums-galleries/museums-with-virtual-tours?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=social-share-article&utm_content=20200313&fbclid=IwAR1zyjokl-rIMCfCKwgDQeXlv2RYaBoUm6z9AjQSLP2HkzJMq0Nw9ei5pQo
Keep an eye on your favorite zoos and aquariums on social media. Many of them are offering live cams or video from different areas of their parks.
Fitness
Many gyms are still closed and working out at home can be difficult. But, there are many resources and videos online now that companies are providing at-home workouts.
Planet Fitness is putting free online classes on their Facebook page daily. Keep an eye out on YouTube for your favorite fitness companies or gyms, such as Orange Theory Fitness. Many of them are providing free workouts. One of my favorite things to do is just get outside, whether it be for a walk or a jog. Just remember to stay six feet away from other people and don’t touch your face!
